Decorate With Me: Thrifted Finds and Moody Autumn Home Styling

As the seasons shift, I love refreshing my home with cozy, layered touches that bring in warmth and character. Today, I’m sharing how I styled a mix of thrifted items, marketplace finds, new décor from Urban Barn, and my favorite pillow covers from The Woven Nook to create a moody autumn aesthetic in my living and dining room.

If you’re looking for fall decorating ideas that blend budget-friendly thrifted home décor with a few new seasonal pieces, this is the perfect balance of cozy and curated.

Urban Barn Fall Finds

I was so excited when Urban Barn opened here in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. It’s a Canadian company, and walking through their store felt like I could take one of everything. The quality feels a step above Structube, with a more high-end look while still offering some reasonably priced pieces.

For this trip, I kept it simple and picked up a few fall candles and candle holders. One of my favorites is a textured white-beige candle holder that instantly adds dimension and warmth to a space. At just $26, I knew it would work on my coffee table, dining table, or shelves. I paired it with one of Urban Barn’s $10 candles and love the combination.

I also grabbed a second candle holder on sale for $19 (regularly $40!) along with a set of twisted green taper candles. The rich green feels perfect for autumn but will transition beautifully into Christmas as well. For now, I’ve styled these on my dining room table, but I can already see them moving around my home through the seasons.

Tip: Even if you don’t plan to burn taper candles, I recommend lighting the wick for just a few seconds. That little bit of soot on the tip makes them look realistic and styled with intention.

Moody Fall Pillow Covers from The Woven Nook

I’ve been wanting to refresh my couch pillows, and The Woven Nook had the perfect set. I picked up a pack of four pillow covers in earthy, moody tones and added an extra one since I have five pillows. All of my inserts are from Winners, and I purposely use slightly larger inserts so the covers look full and cozy.

What I love most is how the different patterns and colors add an organic, vintage-inspired vibe to my living room. They’re perfect for a moody autumn aesthetic but will easily carry through into winter without feeling overly seasonal.

A Small But Perfect Coffee Table Update

Sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest impact. I’ve been on the hunt for new coasters for ages—something simple but timeless. During a trip to Marshalls, I found the perfect set.

They’re stone with a heavy, durable feel and come in a sweet wooden holder. Styled on my coffee table, they not only look great but are super functional.

Thrifted Vintage Landscape Prints

If you’ve been following along, you might have seen my recent DIY vintage artwork project. I thrifted frames, ordered vintage-style landscape prints on Etsy, and gave them a realistic look with a layer of Mod Podge. Styled together, they add depth, texture, and that moody vibe I love for fall.

These prints are such an easy and budget-friendly way to bring in character and vintage charm, and I know they’ll look good year-round.

My Marketplace Lamp Find

One of my favorite new additions is actually a Facebook Marketplace find. I’ve been hunting for a bold, round lamp with an earthy feel and a classic tapered empire lampshade. Everything I found online was $200–$400, which was way out of budget.

After months of checking thrift stores and Marketplace, I finally scored the perfect lamp for just $20. It’s big—bigger than I anticipated—but I love the shape and vintage look.

The base is from 1989, and I plan to DIY it with a dark, moody paint finish. The current shade isn’t my favorite, but I’m keeping an eye out for the right one to swap in.

Easy DIY Yarn Pumpkins

I’ve also been working on a simple DIY fall project using old styrofoam pumpkins from the dollar store. I painted them years ago, but this season I cut holes through the middle and wrapped them in cozy yarns and fibers. With a little wooden stem added to the top, they turn into textured, handmade pumpkins that I can scatter throughout my home.

This is such a quick and affordable fall craft—and a great way to repurpose decorations you already have on hand. I'll share soon the final look!

Final Thoughts

From new candles and pillow covers to thrifted prints and DIY pumpkins, these small updates brought so much warmth and coziness to my home for the fall season.

Mixing thrifted home décor with a few new items from places like Urban Barn and The Woven Nook is one of my favorite ways to decorate—it keeps things budget-friendly but still feels curated and intentional.

Stay tuned for my upcoming lamp makeover and another textured DIY artwork project. In the meantime, I hope this gave you some inspiration for styling your own home with a moody autumn aesthetic.
