How to Style and Elevate A Cutting Board for the Holidays

If you’re looking for a quick and affordable way to elevate your kitchen decor for the holidays, adding ribbon and bells to your cutting boards is one of the easiest styling tricks. It’s a small detail that instantly brings warmth, texture, and a festive touch without feeling overdone.

Here’s how I created a simple, elevated look using just a few materials.

what you will need

  • A cutting board with a handle
  • Small vintage-style bells
  • Ribbon (I used burgundy velvet for a rich, seasonal feel)
  • Twine or string
  • Hot glue

step 1: get a cutting board

I used a wooden cutting board with a handle and leaned it against my kitchen backsplash for a cozy, styled look. You can use any size or shape, but boards with handles work especially well because they give you a place to hang your embellishments.

step 2: add vintage bells

I took two small vintage bells and threaded them onto a simple piece of twine. Once tied, I hung the bells from the handle of the cutting board. This small detail adds a festive touch while still keeping the look minimal and neutral.

step 3: add a bow

To elevate the look, I made a small bow using burgundy velvet ribbon. Velvet adds just the right amount of richness for the holidays. I glued the bow directly onto the twine above the bells to bring the whole arrangement together.

step 4: style it

Lean the cutting board against your backsplash and let the bells hang naturally. It’s effortless styling that instantly adds a seasonal element without cluttering your counters.

do the same with a vase

You can use the same idea on your favourite vase. Wrap a piece of ribbon around the neck, tie or glue on a few bells, and let them hang slightly. It’s a simple way to elevate everyday decor and tie your holiday accents together throughout your home.
